The XXI edition of «ESCALADA al Pico de las Nieves» presents a demanding route and 3 categories to suit all levels. You will live an intense day, reserved for bike lovers. Participants will be able to surpass themselves each year by choosing a different category, which one will be yours?
You will enjoy the high mountains, volcanoes and ravines of Gran Canaria. A small world apart, declared a Biosphere Reserve. A perfect destination for cycling lovers. A miniature continent where to pedal and breathe. And a unique opportunity to enjoy nature near a sea of good weather.

‘Escalada’ modality, climbing up to Pico de Las Nieves:

This is the queen category, the climb par excellence, where riders will face the toughest mountain pass in Europe. The figures of this category speak for themselves of the magnitude of this colossus, such as its 71 kilometers of length, 1,915 meters of max. altitude, 2,760 m of positive vertical drop and ramps up to 23%.

‘Advanced’ modality: 

The mountain neighborhood of La Pasadilla, in the municipality of Ingenio, will receive the end of the ‘Advanced’ modality. Before that, an intermediate stretch of 55 kilometers, of the mountain pass that accumulates the highest elevation gain of the challenge and that will squeeze the legs of our riders, who will be looking for a short break that can be taken in the few straights of the pass. Kilometers of intensity and vertiginous rhythms in this hellish climb to La Pasadilla.

‘Starter’ modality:

Cycle route of 25,4 kilometers, and a positive elevation gain of 667 meters, will take you to the Mirador del Helechal along a road that winds through the vineyards of Tafira, after overcoming the 711 meters of this first mountain pass of the race. Afterwards, you will be able to enjoy a panoramic view of east and a large part of the northeastern part of the island of Gran Canaria.
